We had the privilege of being one of 10 guests invited on a private tour with Robert T. Singer, Curator of Japanese art at LACMA and one of the world’s foremost authorities on this subject.
He took us into the vaults below the museum exhibits and gave us a personal look at some of the new treasures acquired by LACMA that have yet to be seen by the general public.
Robert T. Singer was an articulate man who spends much of his time in Japan scouring the art world for pieces he presents to the board of directors and donors in hopes of bringing them back to Los Angeles to display at LACMA.
Of particular interest to us was the textiles and processes that have been used in Japanese art for centuries, many of which have been mimicked in fashion.
A very nice posting from Mr. Pinto of CLASS on his very well-curated site, The Denim Guy.

Our very good friend and confidante Kevin Alejandro of HBO’s “True Blood” was the first to wear pieces from our new S/S 2011 season, The Mailer Collection.
The collar clip and tie bar are from The Kennedy set, which will be available end of March.
We’ve been busy the last couple weeks prepping the launch of our S/S 2011 season, The Mailer Collection, named after the inimitable Norman Mailer, American novelist, journalist, essayist, poet, playwright, screenwriter, and film director.
He is best known for being a vanguard within the genre commonly referred to as New Journalism, a style of writing that superimposes the essay onto the nonfiction novel.
Our favorite novel is the 1965 work entitled, An American Dream.
Mailer aside, here is a quick sneak peak of the photo shoot GENTRY held at The Genesee House. Please do come back for the official release of the entire collection, including sets The Rojack and The Kennedy.
Zac Efron donned The Cantwell tie bar from GENTRY’s Hemingway Collection, S/S 2010 at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards where he walked away with an award for
“Favorite Movie Star Under 25” We’re not really sure if that counts as a category, but regardless, the boy turned gentleman looked dashing.
To purchase the set, please visit the online store at www.gentryman.com.
GENTRY ended the year on a high note by making Thrillist’s Best of 2010 list.
Thank you to our good friend, Jeff Miller, LA Editor, for the support.
